Ghostbusters - Ivo Shandor by DanSchoening Ghostbusters - Ivo Shandor by DanSchoening
13 Days of Hallowe'en Part 2

6 of 13

Ivo Shandor, also known as the Architect, is a Class 7 Diety found in the Ghostbusters Video game, and mentioned in the first Ghostbusters movie.

[talking about Dana's building, while waiting in jail]
Dr. Egon Spengler: The architect's name was Ivo Shandor. I found it in Tobin's Spirit Guide. He was also a doctor, performed a lot of unnecessary surgery. And then in 1920, he started a secret society...
Dr. Peter Venkman: Let me guess: Gozer worshippers.
Dr. Egon Spengler: Right.
Dr. Peter Venkman: [to Ray] No studying.
Dr. Egon Spengler: After the First World War, Shandor decided that society was too sick to survive.
[He pauses, glancing nervously around at the holding cell crowd]
Dr. Egon Spengler: And he wasn't alone, he had close to a thousand followers when he died. They conducted rituals up on the roof. Bizarre rituals, intended to bring about the *end of the world*, and now it looks like it might actually happen.
[pause. Peter spins around to face another of the inmates, and starts singing]
Dr. Peter Venkman: So be good, for goodness' sake! Whoa, somebody's coming...

Ivo Shandor: "Why worship a god..when you can actually BECOME one?!"

Hate to say it, but he made a good point in the videogame sequel.

Doesn't Ivo's Destructor Form sorta look like the Emperor from Star Wars?
ZillaMera Featured By Owner Nov 2, 2015
Hmm, never got to see what this dude looked like! Cool artwork!

Only in the Wii version of the Ghostbusters Video Game.

He looks much better in the realistic version.

I beat him like 5 times in my game for Wii in hard mode and it was easy but he is really powerful.

I prefer the mustachioed demonic destructor form he gains in the realistic version more.

Ray: [to Egon] We eat gods for breakfast?
Egon: Too much you think?
Ray: No I Like it.

That phrase is in the final scene in the video game for PS3 and 360

About this work: excellent as always.

About other aspects that let me think in a legit way: the funny thing is his look. Illuminati sign that is basically a masonry order that our subconscious take from the culture of our world, then project it into fantasy stuff. The real issue is that we still have those kind of characters in real life but nobody is able to recognize through a simple temporal line. Ghostbusters should fight bankers for "goodness' sake" ;)

360 versian was cool, but the wii versian was a huge nostalgia trip to the real ghostbusters, I LOVE THIS GAME XD

Having his ghost be the main villain of the game was a stroke of genius.

Indeed. Who would have guessed that he possessed the mayor this whole time?

a great boss

I finally got that.part of the game! He looks like a Sith Lord.

Wasn't he the guy who built Dana Barret's apartment?
KairiTheValeyard Featured By Owner Dec 2, 2010  Hobbyist Writer
Yeah, he was responsible for the construction of that building, as well as renovations for several others in the city too.

Kind of interesting just how radically differant the final battles in the two versions of the game are. In the 360/PS3 versions, there's just one form you need to battle, while in the Wii version, he takes a few more and you actually have to use every component of the Proton Pack to beat him. Still, a great battle.

he was originally going to be the first incarnation of Gozer on top of Dana's building and be played by Paul Reubens. I think this would have been more awesome than the plastic bubble clothed girl with the flat top haircut.

also your rendition of him is pretty awesome.

These have been great, but they have all been from the game or cartoon, which I like and I know you did most from the movies last year but can't you slip on in?

Oh man, that's awesome!! That should have been in the Ghostbusters video game as some sort of flashback scene! Would have been super cool! o_O

Ah, Shandor. A man of great power.
(I guess that explains how an asylum psychiatrist became mayor of New York without any of the Ghostbusters remembering him.)

i have to say i'd rather see the realistic shandor, but in his human form it was rather boring, if anything you should do his destuctor form from the realistic version too
Robot001 Featured By Owner Oct 25, 2009  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Can you draw shandor from the 360 version of the game?
Ghostbusterlover Featured By Owner Oct 25, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
That's so cool! :wow: He was a pain to beat in the game, but still fascinating. Once again, great work! And that scene with the inmates was funny. :giggle:

I like the dialogue from the movie to go with it. Despite Ghostbusters being a comedy, it truly had a strong vibe of eeriness. You capture that in your art to a T. lol.

I loved that scene...
